Speedway Motorsports completes Kentucky Purchase

SPARTA, KY. - Speedway Motorsports, Inc. (NYSE:TRK) has added Kentucky Speedway to its portfolio of motorsports facilities, expanding its geographic reach into the Midwest.

The completed purchase was announced today by O. Bruton Smith, founder, chairman and chief executive officer of Speedway Motorsports, Inc.

Make it 20 wins this season for Kyle Busch, NASCAR's dominant workhorse. Overcoming his recent bad luck that has virtually ended his chances at a Sprint Cup championship, Busch returned to his familiar spot in the Nationwide Series on Friday night, cruising to a win in the soggy, wreck-filled Dollar General 300. The victory was the ninth for the 23-year-old Busch in NASCAR's second-tier series. He has won eight Cup races and three more in the Craftsman Truck Series. HOMESTEAD, Fla. -- Plans are in place for Chip Ganassi Racing to switch from Dodge to Chevrolet and be a part of the engine program currently used by Dale Earnhardt Inc. and Richard Childress Racing.

DEI, a Chevrolet-based organization, announced on Wednesday it is merging into a four-car team with the Dodge organization of Chip Ganassi Racing in 2009.
